Another 15 million in grants for EU project

In a short period of time the European CBRNE Center has again been granted EU funding to coordinate a large EU research project. This time 15 million Swedish kronor will be used for the project CBRNEmap. CBRNEmap is a road map study for future demonstrator calls dealing with methods and tools for handling large scale CBRNE terrorism, e.g. chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive substances.

Millions to project cooperation between Umeå University and FOI

European CBRNE Center at Umeå University has been granted its largest EU financed research project so far – close to 20 million Swedish kronor. The Center will, together with the Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI) list suggestions of support actions, dealing with incidents with chemical and radioactive substances, to the European Union’s Committee for health security.

Specialized training course for UN experts begins in Umeå

During 25 May to 5 June 2009, a training course for United Nations experts for investigations of the alleged use of chemical, biological and toxin weapons will be held in Umeå, Sweden. The course is organised by the European CBRNE Center at Umeå University, which is a centre that studies the security and vulnerability of society, with an emphasis concerning major incidents involving chemical, biological radio/nuclear and explosive compounds.
